In the production of Gusti Leather products, values such as animal welfare, sustainability, and human rights are our top priorities. We are subject to the international SA8000 standard, which aims to improve working conditions for employees worldwide. In addition, we have implemented our own measures to monitor occupational safety and compliance with the contractual agreement against child labor. Through our on-site staff, who conduct unannounced visits to our producers’ facilities at least once a month, we are able to thoroughly monitor our contractual partners.
Inspection Procedure:
The general procedure for our inspections involves checking the wet areas where chemicals are used to treat the leather. We also verify compliance with health and safety regulations for workers handling chemicals. According to our policy, these workers must wear gloves and boots for protection. Another aspect inspected in all departments is child labor. Our goal is to combat child labor involving children under the age of 15 in India. Regarding this issue, every producer must sign a contract stipulating that children will not be employed under any circumstances.
We select the dates for our inspections at random, but ensure that the visits are evenly distributed throughout the month. Additionally, our on-site staff carry identification in case anyone wishes to verify their credentials.
